Intervale PTA General Meeting

October 14, 2020 - Virtual

Meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by President Janet Crane.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Mike Wilson presented the proposed 2020-2021 Intervale PTA budget. A vote to approve was called to order: Tom Tufaro raised the motion; Charisse Stieff seconded the motion. No objections. Budget passed.

Principal's Report: Mr. Waack opened the floor for questions regarding cohorts, virtual learning and possible scheduling changes ahead.

Teacher's Report: Mrs. O'Donnell and Mrs. Petersen thanked the parents for their understanding and working with the teacher's during this situation. In addition, they reported on:

  • Officer Tracey is working on an anti-bullying video (in place of an assembly)

  • Plans for Red Ribbon Week

  • A request for pop-up tents for outdoor activities

  • Working on adjusting the 5th grade buddy program

  • Halloween parties - crafts and activities in place of traditional parties

  • A new teacher appreciation chair (Shannon Cevasco) as stepped up

Committee Reports:

  • Apparel/Beth Arnold: Apparel orders are now being accepted, but will close on 10/21.

  • Book Fair/Charisse Stieff: Brainstorming ways to keep the book fair open through a virtual setting, including teaching reading night, a reading competition, etc.

  • Membership: Kathy Hohman serving as chair for this year. Currently at 39 members. Membership form open and accepting new members.

  • Dine to Donate: Naomi Frei serving as the Dine to Donate chair. Chipotle on the schedule for November 4th. More details to come.

  • Teacher Appreciation/Shannon Cevasco: Shannon will be this year's Teacher Appreciation Chair.

Additional Discussion Items:

  • Teacher Grants: Tom Tufaro is running the 2020-2021 teacher grant program. There will be two (2) $500 prizes.

  • 5th Grade Committee: April Homcy will be running this year's program. First meeting to be held on Tuesday, October 20th at 7pm.

  • Scholarship Committee Chair: Looking for a new individual to step into this role.

  • Executive Board: Four positions (President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary) are now open and will be voted on during the next PTA meeting, scheduled for November 11th. Individuals interested in these roles should contact Sarah Macintosh: mcintoshsv@gmail.com.
